What are the main aims of the Gorebridge CARS?
- To preserve and enhance the character of Gorebridge Conservation Area
- To repair and enhance the fabric and character of historic buildings
- To reinstate architectural detail
- To improve the Main Street in Gorebridge Conservation Area
- To involve the local community and improve the knowledge and understanding of the history and heritage of the area
- To increase knowledge and expertise in traditional building skills, to encourage the use of appropriate repair and restoration methods, materials and techniques
- To encourage additional investment in Gorebridge
- To ensure that the project is sustainable and provides for the future of Gorebridge
- A repairs programme for historic buildings to include a priority project and a small grants scheme.
- Community engagement through providing training opportunities in traditional construction skills and through education programmes
- Public realm improvements adjacent to Newbyres Hall.
In order to achieve the above the main elements of the scheme are:
Gorebridge has one priority project, Newbyres Hall and the smaller grants will be offered to identified eligible properties (see grants section).
