Students from Edinburgh University School of Architecture have built a model of the Main Street . This is part of their Msc in Architectural Conservation course, but also part of the work they have being doing with the Gorebridge CARS community engagement programme. The model will be used as an interactive tool for working with the local schools , engaging with young people to encourage them to appreciate and understand their local history and heritage . School children will be able to draw elevations of the orginal shopfronts that were on the Main Street onto the model building frontages , now mostly gone as part of the changing retail dynamics of recent years, helping them to understand how the Main Street has changed and envolved over the years .
The model will be displayed in the Trust's office .
The work was supervised by their tutor, Dimitris Theodosopoulos, the students who made the model were:
Bowen Quin,Petri Mutanen,Maria Del Carman Saez-Martinez,Nefeli Varouchaki,Varsha Amamath.Rajanahally.
